Annapurna Base Camp Trek begins with a short drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, the starting point of the trek. Trekking through small villages and dense forests of rhododendron, you reach beautiful Ghorepani Village. Next morning, you go on a short hike to Poon Hill and continue trekking towards Annapurna Base Camp. Upon reaching the base camp, you get to see panoramic views of the Himalayan mountains. Further, the trail slowly descends through Bamboo and Jhinu Danda to take you back to Nayapul.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek difficulty & Altitude Sickness
Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a moderate trek. The trail offers mixed terrain and involves several ascends & descends. You have to walk 6 to 7 hours a day to a minimum. There will be a few steep and rugged paths as well. To go on Annapurna Base Camp Trekking, you have to be in good health and physical fitness. Likewise, strong determination and will power are also needed as the trek happens in a remote mountainous region.
Altitude sickness can become a major issue during a high altitude journey if not handled properly. Other things like drinking plenty of water and avoiding alcoholic drinks & smoking will keep you away from altitude sickness.
Best time to go on Annapurna Base Camp Trek
The best time to go on Annapurna Base Camp Trek is from March to April and mid-September to November, which means spring & autumn. The weather is usually stable during these months with a pleasant climate. Likewise, during spring, you can see many wild-flowers all over the trail, and in autumn, you will get to be part of different festivals.
Accommodation & Meals
You stay overnight in the lodge during Annapurna Base Camp Trekking. Lodges in this part of Nepal offer basic services like a twin-sharing room with a common washroom most of the time. Similarly, you might get a hot shower facility in some villages, but you have to pay a few extra bucks to use the service. If you want a single room, then do let us know beforehand so we can arrange that for you in advance. However, it is not guaranteed you will get a single room, and the price can get double the amount of shared room.
The package includes three meals a day- breakfast, lunch & dinner. All the meals will be served as per the menu of the lodge. You can expect to get home sort of food. Tibetan, Nepali, Indian, and Continental dishes are available on the menu. You will have a range of items to choose from. As the elevation will increase, the menu will get limited.
Communication & Electricity
The network can be available until certain points. As you will be traversing in the remote Himalayan region, the availability of communication is limited. You will get the chance to send a message to your family a few times during the trek. Likewise, locals here are more dependent on solar electricity than hydropower. Charging your electric appliances can be possible at some lodges, however you might have to pay a few extra bucks for that. Therefore, make sure to carry extra pairs of batteries with you.

Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is very important to keep you safe in case of any emergency. We highly suggest you take out travel insurance that covers things like air evacuation, hospital bills, medical bills, flight cancellation, and theft of property. Foreign travelers are not allowed to take out travel insurance in Nepal, therefore make sure to get a good one in your home country.
